Concept of Bhojan Mata

The concept of Bhojan Mata is one of the best practices in Uttarakhand. All Cook cum helper is engaged in state is the mother of the child studied in that particular school.

Recipes and guideline booklet

State MDM cell has prepared and distributed a recipes and guideline booklet to all schools in which local based recipes are prescribed. The name of of the booklet is "mŸkjk[k.M esa e/;kºu Hkkstu gsrq O;atu ,oa funsZf'kdk". Most of the schools are following weekly menu according booklet. To improve the micronutrient status of children of the state, a separate booklet, each for primary and upper primary schools, consisting of around 30 iron and vitamin A rich recipes has been prepared by Home Science, G.B.Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar named "Micronutrients Enriched Nutritious and Delicious Recipe Booklet" (lw{e iks"kd rRoksa ls ifjiw.kZ ikSf"Vd ,oa Lokfn"V O;atu iqfLrdk). This booklet has provided to each Primary & Upper Primary School of the state to create nutritional awareness among teachers and community people, as well as to improve nutritional status of the children.

Smokeless "Chullaha"

State Government has sanctioned Smokeless "Chullaha" for 14 Schools in convergence with Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) and University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun.

Training of CCHs

The State government has trained around 28000 Cook cum Helpers in a phased manner through State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT). 60 cook cum helpers are also trained as Master Trainer (MT) from Institute of Hotel Management, Dehradun.

Kitchen garden

Initiative was taken to establish “kitchen garden” in school premises where land is available. Around 301 Kitchen Gardens have been established as yet.

Hand Wash Campaign

Hand Wash Campaign was initiated in all Govt., Govt. Aided and Private Schools. Dissemination of information regarding the hand wash campaign has been done through Hoarding/Banners across the state, sponsored by Canara Bank under CSR.

Incentive of Rs.1000 per annum is given to CCHs

Incentive of Rs.1000 per annum is given to all Cook cum Helpers, apart from their monthly honorarium.

Rs.1000/- provided to procure for soaps etc.

All schools are provided Rs. 1000 to procure soaps, nail cutter, aprons, head cover, gloves etc.

Grading system

Grading system was introduced to check the grade of the schools in 20 Points evaluation format.

Provide fund for non-subsidised gas cylinders

State Government has provided the fund Rs. 1.46 crore for reimbursement of non-subsidized cylinders.

Provided MDM register

All schools are provided MDM register in which Mid Day Meal related heads and components are mentioned.
