Innovative Practices followed in the State :

Providing Milk

Under the mid-day meal scheme to provide additional nutritional support to the students on every Thursday the students are given 150 ml. milk in primary and 200 ml. milk for upper primary from 15th July, 2015 through revised menu.

Fruits distribute weekly

To provide the additional nutritional element to the students the government has decided to distribute fresh and seasonal fruits among students weekly. For this purpose the government has made the provision of Rs.200 Crores in the Budget.

Eating plates

Under the mid-day meal scheme to enhance the uniform distribution of mid-day meal and to take the meal with dignity the government has decided to provide a stainless steel Thali and Galas in all schools covered under the mid-day meal scheme. For the purchase of the above mentioned utensils the government has sanctioned the grant of Rs. 50 Crores through the government order no. 132/79-Anu.Prako.Budget 15-16/. 3rd September 2015. Technical Specifications of the Stainless Steel Thali and Gilaas have been decided by the State Government.

Personal hygiene and hand washing

The new mid-day meal register has been distributed to all the schools covered under the mid-day meal scheme with the help of UNICEF. Personal hygiene and hand washing and all related issues of mid-day meal have been described in the mdm register.

Training of CCHs

With the help of UNICEF for the training of Cook-cum-helpers regarding Hygiene, Safety, Nutrition and equality, a short film ‘Poshana’ has been produced.
